Santa Fe, New Mexico:
Nature, Spa & Yoga Retreat
SEPTEMBER 16 - 20, 2020
Nestled at the foot of the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains at 7200 feet in the New Mexican desert highlands, join us as we explore enchanting Santa Fe, “The City Different”.
Join Melissa and Richard as they offer vibrant, mindful flow classes in the morning. Melissa’s offering are both therapeutic and focus on building strength and flexility. Her classes will be a combination of slow, strong flow with modifications for injuries or sensitivity in the body, finishing with long held prop supported postures (restorative yoga). Learn to listen to body through the marriage of breath and movement as we explore moving through postures with grace and strength. These sessions will intertwine mantra, pranayama, mindful vinyasa flow and finish with restful postures.
We have carefully crafted an itinerary of the best of the best of Santa Fe. From a luxurious spa day and dining at Ten Thousand Waves to a cooking class at world-renowned Santa Fe Cooking School. An award winning Flamenco Dance Show at a Santa Fe institution around since the mid-1800’s to a specialized tour of Ghost Ranch where Georgia O’Keeffe painted her most provocative landscapes. This retreat has every detail thought of- including welcoming yoga classes. The yoga will be suitable for anyone and combine slow, strength building mindful movement with yoga nidra.
We cannot wait to share our favorite city gems with you. Book today to save your space. This retreat has a wait list and will sell out quickly!
TRAVEL + LEISURE SAYS:
"ONCE YOU VISIT SANTA FE, YOU WON'T WANT TO LEAVE."
This retreat will be a return to the sacred self and renewal of the heart. We will explore the therapeutic healing benefits of yoga with daily all levels classes that are both accessible and designed to be sustainable long after the retreat. We will explore through guided yoga nidra meditation, the 4 qualities of the heart in cultivating peaceful relationship within yourself and others. Those qualities are: kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. The sessions will be a progression, so you won’t want to miss any! Sessions may include mantras for exploring your voice, movement to revive the body, meditation to quiet the mind, and restorative poses to cultivate stillness. Each one will vary and possibly offer community discussions, some partner movement or postures, or quiet guided yoga nidra meditation.
Santa Fe Cooking School
The Santa Fe Cooking School is an internationally acclaimed, recreational cooking school and market specializing in foods of the southwest for over 27 years. We have a private and custom designed cooking class and lunch with a wonderful Soutwestern flared menu selected exclusively for our group.
Georgia O’Keeffe Museum
O’Keeffe is an artist who began with familiar objects and then explored and re-explored them until they led her into the unknown. The O’Keeffe Museum has a collection of immediately-recognizable works, as well as rare, lesser-known gems that may give one a fuller picture of Georgia’s creative life. We’ll explore the museum in a self-guided tour and marvel together at her influential works of art.
"When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.”
Ten Thousand Waves
Among piñons and junipers are beautiful outdoor hot tubs and spa suites, world-class bodywork & skin care, and the amazing izanami restaurant. Ten Thousand Waves is dedicated to providing a Japanese sense of serenity and relaxation. Everything--from the gardens to the woodwork, from the therapies to the therapists--has been constantly and thoughtfully refined over the last 38 years. We will enjoy a communal pool and sauna followed by a special treatment included in your retreat package. After our time in the spa, we’ll enjoy lunch at izanami.
izanami is an izakaya serving upscale japanese bar food. We’ll enjoy small plates meant for sharing, creatively prepared locally-sourced meat and produce with an emphasis on seasonality, all accompanied by unique libations. Don’t expect the usual. There is NO SUSHI (we're a thousand miles from the ocean). No soggy tempura. Definitely none of the sickly-sweet, hot sake that has given sake such a bad rap.
Wine Tasting at famed Santa Fe Tasting Room of the Gruet Winery. New Mexico is where it all started for Gruet’s American venture. Bone-dry sandy soils, very high elevations, a dramatic day-to-night temperature swing for great acidity and a history of monastic winemaking dating back more than 400 years make this a special region. Our vintage wines all proudly bear the New Mexico appellation. Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery specializes in Methode Champenoise sparkling wines. Family owned and run, the New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-based sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines, with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house in Bethon, France. More than 25 vintages later, Gruet Winery has achieved unprecedented acclaim and remains a favorite of the nation’s top sommeliers. Take a break from exploring the Santa Fe Plaza and enjoy a Wine Sampling or a glass of their famed Brut Rosé.
El Farol Flamenco Dinner Show
We have reserved group seating for dinner at 6:30pm. Performance is from 8pm. Cover per person is included. Drinks & dinner is not included.
Red canyons, majestic mesas and amazing skies
Ghost Ranch is a 20,000-acre educational retreat operated by the Presbyterian Church an hour outside of Santa Fe. The drive from Santa Fe to Ghost Ranch is a marvel in and of itself. There’s really no way to describe it other than it's like combining the best of the American desert and the vistas of the Rocky Mountains. You’ll watch shadows of clouds pass over red rocks, backed by snow-capped peaks so high that at first you will think they are clouds. Every bend in the road brings a new vista. The Rio Chama valley is a majestic desert landscape, rich in geological, anthropological, political, and cultural history.
On our private guided tour we will experience amazing views of many of Georgia O’Keeffe’s favorite sites from which she painted and the vast beauty of Abiquiu. After our tour we’ll enjoy a cozy campy meal in the cafeteria on site provided by the retreat center, explore a hike (any experience level hike available) and an afternoon outdoor yoga in our tranquil setting. After our adventure, we’ll enjoy views of the Sangre de Christo Mountains that are stunning.
"It was all so far away - there was quiet and an untouched feel to the country and I could work as I pleased.”
~ Georgia O'Keeffe
